'Miss Beautiful Hair' ~ My Tale!

Don’t you hate it when you see other people who have fabulous and bouncy curls and you just wonder how they can manage to have it and you can’t? All of us want to have the perfect hair, whether straight or curly. The problem is that when we straighten or curl our hair using chemicals, or even use irons, there’s a tendency that it will look limp, especially during the first few weeks. But this isn’t even the worst part of having a bad hair day. The worst part is seeing other people who have the same hairstyle as you do but theirs have more bounce and life. You are left wondering how they can achieve it and you can’t?!

**********************
Mother Nature,

I have not been very happy with you. This long winter has not only done a number on my spirits but also my HAIR!

The past couple weeks I noticed my hair going super dry and breaking off at the ends. Normally I ignore this problem or just use an extra bit of conditioner. But this dryness was really, really bad.

So I went to the store to do something about it! Bought the Sunsilk Black Shampoo! :D

After one day of using it I saw a difference. I swear. I am NOT just saying that. It has seriously put LIFE back into my weary locks. My hair has felt healthier, softer, and shinier. I really can’t believe it. I thought I was going to have to go to the salon and get a very expensive deep conditioning treatment, but no! I just switched my shampoo! How is that possible?!

I give this awesome shampoo my seal of approval! Thank you Sunsilk for this incredible shine to my locks! Transform your locks from lifeless to lively! Recharge your hair, recharge your life, indeed!

-Aayesha S Hakim

***********************

My tale in my words, poetically!

You might not carry the victory lamp,
But still when you look in the mirror,
You feel like a champ,
Casting black magic around!

I wish to tell you a tale,
Of the way I was glamorously treated,
Cherishing every minute, I wanted to sing!
Others lavishing me with their praise!
Being ‘star of the day’ is quite good fun,
The depth of others’ recognition and stare,
Lets me glide as though I just won,
A ‘Miss Beautiful Hair’ title!
I reveal you my mane secrets!
Recharge your life,
Spend some time with Sunsilk!
Your hair will sparkle,
You’ll feel tip top, outside and inside!

And though you may not wear a medal,
Worn with pride around your neck,
You certainly deserve to feel great,
So pamper yourself!
Gone are the ‘bad hair days’,
Bring out a special you!

It's always with me everywhere,
The shiny straight, wild mane of mine!
It's hard when I lose an ounce,
I wash it, condition it, comb it,
My hair may get frizzy from the rain,
It makes me look like plain old Jane,
I always get it cut and want to try a new style,
For fun occasions,
I sometimes tease it to look wild,
With all the new trends,
My styles will never end,
My hair is like an art,
I can fringe it, razor it!

Be in ultra modern jeans, with hair cropped,
Be in swimming suit, with hair dripping,
Be in top and middy, with hair thrown back,
Be in velvet chudidar, with hair hiding the cheeks,
Be in saree and blouse, with hair loosely knotted into a bun,
Be in half saree and blouse, with hair tightly plaited,
Or be in any fashion that comes into being,
My locks can be flung!

Then came the teenage years of perfection,
Pursued yet never found,
The curlers, the pain,
The teasing and back-combing,
Choking on clouds of hairspray,
My frantic tantrums,
All of that, and more, and what for?
One blast of wind,
And it would all collapse,
Into the latest birds-nest style.

At times, in my terrible moods –
Though I try to hide in a smile,
Though my dark eyes endeavor to appear pleasant,
The most telling indicator is always my hair,
Flying off wildly in every direction,
As if to mimic my fiery hormones!

I offer them a hairbrush,
But the tangles are too many,
Just like my tangled up life,
They are in perpetual protest,
Exacerbating my terrible mood,
Billowing defiantly in the breeze.

The salon aunty,
Armed with hair gel and combs,
Towers over me,
Grabbing fistfuls of my wind-kissed hair,
Pulling it tightly,
Shaping my locks into her vision,
Beating them into submission,
Running her fingers through my hair,
With all her tools of manipulation,
Sculpting against my roots,
Fighting back, my mane billows in the wind!
And lo! There I am!
Ready to meet the world,
And look it in the eye,
From under that irregular fringe!

Oh yes! I do love my hair- my gifted crown!
My hair, never meant to be pinned up,
Just like my spirit; free!
Me - Paragliding, fearlessly, no messy hair!
Going to deserts without fear of dust,
Long drives without worrying about the wind,
So, go recharge those thirsty locks,
Keep them super silky and weightless!
Get back your crowning glory!

A secret letting out too,
I love my hair,
‘Coz it makes me,
A little furry blanket,
And I can cover both of us,
Just you and I! ;)

Liebster Award III

Yet again (3rd time, Yay!), I have been nominated by Anmol Rawat for the Liebster Award. You can visit him here: http://anmolrawat.blogspot.in/

Blogging has always been a nice experience for me - to share what you ponder, raise your concern over what bothers you and get appreciation in return.  By God’s grace, it has been only 8 months, and I’m being supported and appreciated by my readers beyond my expectation. Such people motivate me to write. I feel so happy, honored & privileged to have been nominated. Thank you Anmol, I’m delighted to accept this award!

Liebster rules:
The Liebster Award is intended to promote love and spread blogging goodness amongst upcoming bloggers. The name is German in origin and means “sweetest” “dearest” etc. and sort of operates like a chain email.

Here are the rules of the award:
1] Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
2]Answer the 11 questions given to you by the blogger who nominated you.
3] Nominate 11 other bloggers with less than 200 followers.
4]Go to the blogs you nominated and notify them of your nomination.
5] Give your nominees 11 questions to answer.

My answers to Anmol’s set of questions:
Q1. Happy or Annoyed? What was your first reaction when you were tagged in this post? Now, we all need truthful answers.
A1. Obviously happy! Who is ever dejected to accept awards?! ;)

Q2. Why do you blog?
A2. Initially, I was clueless, why do I blog..mmmphh? :P But now, it is so into me, that I feel incomplete if I don’t update my blog regularly. It has become a part of me. It also gives a way out to what bothers me, what I feel. And the appreciation I received as time passed by, gave me a boost to continue blogging. Each comment, each vote, I value, because it’s a measure of people acknowledging my work.

Q3. Fame or Money? Why?
A3. Fame (for something good, like my writing) I wish to get my book published. And, the major cause is not money, it is just for people to know the story I wish to narrate, and in the process I want recognition- of an author, a published author! Believe me nothing makes me more happy than people asking me about my book, its status, or my blog. It’s lovely to hear people asking you, ‘Oh! So you write? I read a few posts. I enjoyed them.’

Q4. Do you ever feel other bloggers are copying your stuff without any link back to your blog or without any mention? If yes, would you mind sharing how you feel at that time?
A4. I never felt so, I do and will always maintain harmony with my co bloggers, have met some beautiful people in this course, who have the same passion as mine. I get to learn a lot from them.
But yes, I am strictly against plagiarism. It will always remain cheating, if you don’t quote it in your article. It is an ethical offence.

Q5. Are you an atheist? If no, what makes your belief strong? If yes, why?
A5. I am not an atheist, I do believe in the concept of God, a supreme power, but I am secular. I believe if prayers are true, then it doesn't matter if you join hands to pray at a temple, church or at namaz!

Q6. What’s your view regarding the feminism? Do you think that solely males are responsible for everything or do you believe that it depends from person to person and talking in general is senseless? Elaborate your answer.
A6. Feminism is a concept that demands equal rights, opportunities and freedom for women. But, I am not much in favor of women fighting for literally any petty issue, for eg., the recent one is they are creating a hullabaloo over some punches (against women) in our most favorite show ‘Comedy Nights with Kapil’! I really don’t support this kind of Feminism, since it is just a comedy show it has to be taken that way! People need to grow up and not take silly things overboard, just for attention grabbing sake! I hate women who consider men as their benchmark for all their successes and failures. Feminism is a farce, at times! Being a self made woman, I don’t think the world is anymore a male dominated one. Women are catching up at a pace unimaginable!
But on parallel lines, in serious cases like domestic violence, sexual harassment, such Mahila Mandals are absolutely necessary and reasonable.

Q7. If you were given three wishes, what would they be?
A7. - Best wishes in terms of health and prosperity for my family, always.
 - A lovely life partner.
- I want to get my book published, (but for that, I need some serious     sitting and writing, please grant me that first :P)

Q8. What is your wildest fantasy? What is your biggest dream?
A8. Wildest fantasy(ies): - A world tour with HIM! ;) (without any worries!)
- To run on a Bali beach with my gown flowing! (filmy style)
- Dancing to the tunes of ‘Tumhi Ho Bandhu’ wearing a jumpsuit on a beach vacation :P (I know I’m filmy :P)
Biggest dream: To be a very famous teacher, and a well known best seller author.

Q9. Rapid Fire:
>Name a movie and a book in which you cried the most: Though you have asked one, I can’t decide on one! I don’t cry at movies and books, I just felt grossly sad/emotional at #Kal Ho Na Ho, Babul, Baghban, Taare Zameen Par, New York. (Don’t remember anymore now :P) &
# ‘I Too Had A Love Story’ by Ravinder Singh and ‘P.S I Love You’ by Cecilia Ahern.

>A song which comes in your mind when it’s raining: ‘Rimjhim Rimjhim’ from 1942: A Love Story and ‘Barso Re Megha’ from Guru, (recent addition) ‘Tum Hi Ho’ from Aashiqui 2!

>If you could exchange lives with someone whom will it be? ~ I really don’t like this idea. Main apni sab se favorite hoon ;) No exchange, I am happy with the way my life is! We never really know the level of problems in another person’s life. It is only when we sit and exchange our troubles across a table, we realize it is better we take our life, as it is, and leave the table.

>Which superpower would you like to have if given chance? ~ A superpower to spread happiness and smiles across and abolish the gaps religions have created.

>Do you believe in love at first sight? ~ No, it’s a myth. I can never fall for someone just at looking at him. Looks are deceptive!

Q10
. Anything that you will like to change about yourself?
A10. I would want to refrain from getting too easily attached to people, it changes the ‘chirpy’ me. I hate being sad and low, for people who hardly care.

Q11.
You have read eleven facts about me. Suppose you are given a sheet with all these eleven points and now you have to write a few lines explaining that person.
A11. You are just a guy next door! Fun loving person, shy, emotional, a movie buff, avid reader, a passionate writer, an atheist (loved your strong reasons behind the ideology), music lover, the last point (respecting women).

Great questions, Anmol! Loved answering them, discovered a bit of myself while I answered them! :D
My nominees: Check them all out when you get a chance – they are such talented bloggers and I really enjoy reading each and every one of them.

To the people I have nominated above: Congratulations! The reason behind me nominating you is, I enjoy reading your blog and you deserve a lot more subscribers. Keep writing!

# My questions for my nominees:
> What would you wish to name a movie about your life?
>What is YOUR favorite blog post from YOUR blog? Link please!
>What is the best piece of life advice you could give to someone?
> Worst thing a person can do to you?
>Give me a description of what you see when you look out of the window this very moment!
> What do you think about my blog? ;)
> Items on your bucket list?
> What is the thing you do at the end of your day just before going to bed?
> Anything that you would want to change about yourself?
> Do you agree with popular belief that a man is ruled by his head and a woman by her heart?
> What according to you is the problem most of the youths face today?

Now it’s your turn. Waiting for your answers! :D

Five Sentence Fiction – Moon!

Dr. Rathod and Dr. Kumar could literally give people another chance to live!

They created a technology that allowed them to weave artificial memories, such that a patient could request attempts to alter their mind and wake up with memories of things that did not actually happen.

However, since these new memories are permanent, the conflict between them and the existing authentic memories clash in such a way that it ceases the person’s ability to properly function.

Thus, the operation could only be done to people on their deathbeds, to fulfill what they wish they had done with their lives… but did not.

With each step back in time, a new fragment of Salonee’s curious past is revealed. And as the two doctors piece together the puzzled events that spanned a life time of a last stage Cancer patient, Salonee, they find out her dying wish ~ to go to the moon, since she always wanted to be an astronaut.

This post is written for 5 sentence fiction, the prompt being 'MOON'.

It’s A Small World!

Can anyone buy time?
Can anyone hold this moment longer?
So that it’s far from the moment we separate?
Though it’s near,
Though it’s slipping in silence without fear,
I fear to separate…

I’m afraid my tears will flow out in a river…
At the moment we know we no longer can hold,
No one can buy the time we spend together,
No one can…

It is more precious than our fights,
It is more wonderful than our misunderstandings,
It is like the moment we see how hard,
The cloud is trying to stand still,
Against the mighty wind!

It is a wonderful blue sky,
It is a glamorous evening dance,
I am desperate to lie in the safe wings of your arms,
Where the touch of love is warmly unleashed,
Where it is the best hug in the world,
Without any worries,
Without any judgment…

We can never hold what we want at times,
But I believe the moment will come,
When we can hug one another again,
And in tears of joy, this round,
The wind represents my voice,
It whispers my tears,
And brings them to a place I never knew,
So that they will not stay in my eyes,
But let the joy remain.

We will never be apart,
Because we belong together in heart,
There’s so much that we share,
Laughter, tears, hopes, fears,
We will surely meet again,
‘Coz there is just one moon,
And one golden sun,
Though the mountains divide,
And the oceans are wide,
It's a small world after all!

One Piece Of Advice!

Act in haste and repent at leisure. Majority of mistakes in our lives could have been avoided had we looked before we leapt!

Common problems in relationships stated are age, differences in religion, caste, or dumping someone for an arranged marriage.

Given the frequency of such situations, couples need to understand the consequences before embarking their journey on the love boat. If the boat is not going to the port of your choice, don’t simply get on it! It sounds cynical and planned, that’s not how love is supposed to be! But boiling down to silly reasons that you can’t live happily together and being skeptical because of the 'obvious' reasons, you can instead save yourself of the heartache, unless you wanted a time pass boat ride.

If you're clear that your relationship will culminate into marriage, don’t waste your time into what's impossible. Lack of clarity of what we want and what we can do to achieve what we want, is what creates messy relationships. You need someone who can get you in his/her life and not just in dreams, without any ifs and buts attached!

All I have to say is, “Look before you leap on that love boat!”

Prompt: One Piece of Advice
If you were giving your one best tip to someone brand new to some subject or activity, what would you tell them?

My Little Sister

Well, for this prompt, I could only imagine what it would be to have a little sister ~ someone resembling me- a mini me!

A little sister is a bit of childhood that can never be lost! What's the good of news if you don't have a sister to share it with? She smiles at your stories - for she knows where the decoration has been added!

Sisters don't need words. They perfect a language of snarls, smiles, frowns, winks - expressions of shocked surprise, incredulity and disbelief. Sniffs, snorts, gasps, sighs - that can undermine any tale you're telling. You can kid the world, but not her!

She is your mirror, shining back at you, your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, loves you anyway; your partner in crime, a midnight companion, she knows when you are smiling, even in the dark!  She is your defense attorney, a personal press agent, a forever friend. Some days she's also the reason you wish you were an only child!

This post has been written for Write Tribe's 100 Words on Saturday. The prompt was "My little sister." For more details: http://writetribe.com/100-words-saturday-2014-1/
